Overview
Professor John Lennox is an internationally respected mathematician, author and Christian apologist, widely recognised for his thoughtful engagement at the intersection of science, philosophy and faith. He serves as Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Oxford and is an Emeritus Fellow in Mathematics and the Philosophy of Science at Green Templeton College, Oxford. Over a distinguished academic career, he has contributed significantly to mathematical research while also becoming a leading voice in public discourse on Christianity.
Holding multiple academic distinctions (MA, MMath, MA in Bioethics, DPhil, PhD, DSc, FISSR), Professor Lennox has lectured extensively around the world and is particularly known for engaging in public debates with prominent atheist thinkers, offering a reasoned and gracious defence of the Christian faith. His work consistently seeks to demonstrate that belief in God is intellectually robust and relevant in a scientific age.
He is President of the Oxford Centre for Christian Apologetics (OCCA), where he helps equip emerging leaders to articulate and defend the Christian worldview with clarity and conviction. In addition, he serves as a Distinguished Research Fellow at the Lanier Library and Learning Center in Yarnton, Oxford, contributing to scholarly reflection on faith, culture and society.
Professor Lennox is also a prolific author, with numerous books exploring themes such as science and religion, ethics, and the credibility of the Gospel. His upcoming autobiography, ‘My Story: A Spiritual and Intellectual Autobiography’, to be published by SPCK, offers a personal reflection on his journey of faith and scholarship and is currently available for pre-order. Lennox also focusses on Artificial Intelligence, such as in his book ‘God, AI and the End of History’.
As a key speaker at the CBC Revive 2026 Conference, Professor Lennox brings a wealth of insight into how Christians can engage thoughtfully and faithfully within today’s rapidly changing media landscape. His contribution aligns closely with the mission of CBC UK to encourage, equip and unite believers in proclaiming the Gospel through media, echoing the biblical call to “always be prepared to give an answer… with gentleness and respect” (1 Peter 3:15, paraphrased).
