Overview
House of David is a multi-season biblical drama series that dramatises the life of King David, tracing his journey from humble shepherd to Israel’s most celebrated monarch. Created by Jon Erwin (with Jon Gunn), the series is produced by The Wonder Project in partnership with Amazon MGM Studios, Nomadic Pictures, Argonauts, Kingdom Story Company and Lionsgate Television.
The plot centres on King Saul’s decline through pride and disobedience, resulting in his favor with God crumbling, and on the prophet Samuel’s unexpected anointing of David as Saul’s successor. The show explores themes of faith, identity, power, sacrifice and God’s sovereignty in human affairs.
Key cast members include Michael Iskander (David), Ali Suliman (Saul), Ayelet Zurer (Ahinoam), Stephen Lang (Samuel), Martyn Ford (Goliath), Indy Lewis (Mychal), Ethan Kai (Jonathan) among others.
The first season premiered on 27 February 2025, with three episodes released initially and the remaining ones airing weekly until 3 April 2025.
All eight episodes of season one are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
The series has been renewed for a second season.
